Dr. Howley’s Office: Botox

I’ve wanted to get Botox for awhile now but was scared to actually take the plunge.  I’m terrified of needles and tend to pass out so I was a little scared to get them in my face, I know, I know, I’m a huge baby!  But I have this line between my eyes and it’s been haunting me for the past couple of years.  After my dad got sick and passed away I had basically been crying for three years straight and this pesky line just kept getting worse, talk about a huge reminder of my sadness staring me right in the face!  So, I finally decided to go for it and was super excited to collaborate with Dr. Howley‘s office.  He’s a well known plastic surgeon in Moncton and definitely rumored as being the very best.  So I guess if I’m going to go for it then it should probably be with the best.  I didn’t know what to expect but as soon as I walked into their office it felt warm and welcoming and they made me feel completely at ease.  I met Tania and she was the nurse who would be doing the Botox.  She made feel so comfortable and I really wasn’t as nervous as I usually would be with needles involved.  I find there are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to what Botox actually is and what it does.  It’s used to reduce fine line and wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles. I honestly thought that my face would feel so different.  I’d always heard that you wouldn’t be able to make expressions and you’d basically look frozen.  Well, that was a complete myth, I felt nothing different and actually felt exactly the same. I can totally make expressions with my face and it isn’t in any way frozen. It actually didn’t hurt at all, it was just little pinches, which was a huge relief. It does take 3 days to start working and 7-10 days for it to take full effect.  After a few days, I started to see the results and was super pleased.  I made sure to take a selfie every day so that I could see the Botox starting to kick in (see the photos above for the daily changes).   I went back in last week for a check up and everything looked great.  Now I only have to go back in 3 and a half to four months for maintenance.  To say that I’m pleased would be a vast understatement, I’m totally in love and so happy that I decided to finally take the plunge and look and feel younger!  This line had me stressed out all the time and now I feel younger and prettier and I don’t know about you but I kind of like feeling pretty. If that makes me vain than I’ll wear that badge with honor. Hello, my name is vain and I absolutely LOVE Botox!

Thanks so much to Tania, Lyndsay, Dr. Howley and their entire office staff for making this such an amazing experience!

Fashionably Yours,

Boho & Braids xoxo
